Demolition of educational buildings for earthquake-resistant reinforcement

The Director of School Infrastructure, Roberto Herrera Polanco, announced on Monday that operations have been suspended at 57 educational facilities in the Dominican Republic. The measure is part of a structural initiative aimed at enhancing the seismic resilience of school buildings across the country.

Under this plan, 34 of the affected facilities are slated for complete demolition, while the remaining 23 will undergo partial demolition to address safety concerns. The initiative is intended to ensure that school infrastructure meets current seismic safety standards.
