Demolition of educational buildings for earthquake-resistant reinforcement

The Director of School Infrastructure, Roberto Herrera Polanco, announced on Monday the suspension of operations at 57 educational facilities in the Dominican Republic. The measure is part of a government initiative focused on seismic strengthening to ensure school safety.

Of the affected centers, 34 are slated for complete demolition, while 23 will undergo partial demolition. These actions are being taken to address structural concerns and improve the earthquake resilience of the country's educational infrastructure.
