Demolition of educational buildings for earthquake-resistant reinforcement

The Director of School Infrastructure, Roberto Herrera Polanco, announced on Monday the suspension of operations at 57 educational facilities in the Dominican Republic. This measure is part of a broader government initiative focused on seismic strengthening to ensure the safety of school buildings.

Of the affected centers, 34 are slated for total demolition, while 23 will undergo partial demolition. The initiative aims to address structural vulnerabilities in these facilities to mitigate risks associated with seismic activity.
