The wife and daughter of Ecuadorian drug trafficker Fito, leader of Los Choneros, were arrested in Colombia.

Authorities in Colombia arrested the wife and daughter of José Adolfo Macías Villamar, known as alias Fito, on Sunday in the department of Santander. Macías Villamar is the leader of Los Choneros, identified as the oldest criminal organization operating in Ecuador.

The detention was officially confirmed by the Ecuadorian Minister of the Interior, John Reimberg. The operation marks a significant development regarding the family of the high-profile criminal leader.
