Caracas expects to recover "part" of the airport affected by earthquakes in the first half of 2027

Venezuelan authorities announced that the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, which serves Caracas, is expected to have a portion of its infrastructure restored by the first half of 2027. The facility sustained significant structural damage following a double earthquake event. Recovery efforts are currently underway to address these impacts.

In the interim, nineteen airlines—comprising eleven international and eight domestic carriers—are operating out of temporary terminals established at the airport. These temporary facilities were activated one week ago to maintain air connectivity while long-term repairs continue.
