Members of Parliament accumulate streaks of absences without any control

During the legislative session that ended on July 26, members of the Chamber of Deputies in the Dominican Republic recorded a significant number of absences from legislative sessions. Many of these absences occurred in consecutive streaks, all of which were formally registered with excuses.

These patterns of absenteeism persist despite existing regulations governing the conduct of the legislative body. The accumulation of these absences highlights a lack of oversight regarding the attendance requirements for deputies during the concluded term.
