PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago — Dominic Rampersad has been appointed Chairman of Guardian Holdings Limited, succeeding Robert Almeida, who will complete his term as chairman on September 30, 2026. In a statement on Wednesday, the board of directors of Guardian Holdings Limited (GHL) revealed that Rampersad will assume the chairmanship with effect from October 1. Describing him as a seasoned business leader, the board said Rampersad brings more than three decades of experience spanning executive leadership, strategy, finance, operations, technology and business development.
Highlighting his 11 years as president of Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited, where he led regional expansion, international acquisitions and technological advancement as well as his membership in the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, the board stressed that Rampersad brings considerable experience in corporate governance, risk management and capital markets. Rampersad has served as a director of Guardian Holdings Limited since April 2023, and has sat on the boards of several companies across the group, which the board said provides continuity as he takes on this new responsibility. "It is a privilege to take on this role at an organisation with Guardian Holdings Limited's history and standing in our region," said Rampersad.
"My time on the board has given me a clear appreciation of the strength of this group, the depth of its people and the trust our customers place in us. I look forward to working with my fellow directors and the management team to build on the foundation Robert and those before him have laid," he added. Outgoing chairman Almeida noted that Guardian Holdings Limited has been shaped by leaders who understood both the privilege and the responsibility of stewardship.
I am confident that in Dominic, the board has found a chairman with the experience and judgement to carry this organisation forward and I wish him and the group every success," Almeida said. The board expressed its appreciation to Almeida for his leadership, counsel and service, and welcomed Rampersad to the chairmanship.
