Donorwet heeft in vijf jaar tot minder extra orgaandonaties geleid dan gehoopt

Five years after the implementation of the new donor law in the Netherlands, the legislation has resulted in fewer additional organ donations than initially hoped. While the law has led to an overall increase in donations, the growth remains limited.

A primary factor constraining the law's impact is family intervention. In more than half of the cases where a deceased person had no registered objection in the donor register, surviving relatives ultimately blocked the organ donation procedure.
