In 2023, professional football goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and his pregnant partner, Alessia Elefante, were victims of a violent home invasion at their apartment in Paris. During the robbery, the couple was physically assaulted, having their hair pulled and being beaten, before being bound and threatened with a knife.

Separately, in unrelated judicial proceedings, authorities in the Dominican Republic extradited two Dominican citizens, Rafael H. and Domingo R., to the United States. The pair were sent to Miami to face federal drug trafficking charges brought by a court in the District of Southern Florida.
