Dos estudiantes identificaron una nueva especie de protoanfibio y la nombraron en honor a sus madres

Two students associated with the Field Museum, Payton Kohlberg and Allison Sefcovic, have identified a new species of proto-amphibian. The discovery was made using a fossil dating back approximately 309 million years, which was recovered from the Mazon Creek fossil site in Illinois.

In a gesture of recognition, the researchers named the newly described species in honor of their mothers. The findings contribute to the scientific understanding of prehistoric life forms preserved within the Mazon Creek geological formation.
