NewzA back-to-school event was held on Sunday morning.It occurred at the Old Navy located inside Oakwood Plaza in Hollywood. Early voting begins Monday in Miami-Dade County.Over the weekend, faith leaders were urging their parishioners to make their voices heard this election season. Miami-Dade officials have held a Get Out the Vote campaign, answering questions and giving out voter information materials while also offering to register people to vote. “We’re here to do outreach to remind everybody that we have elections, and to let them know they can early vote by mail or go on election day,” said Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections Alina Garcia.
“People need to know they can go to any early voting sites, they don’t have to go to their specific precinct. And next week we’ll have an evening time from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.”She said the county is ready for any and all who wish to cast their ballots early.
“All of our equipment is out and ready to go,” said Garcia. “I want to remind everyone we do vote on paper, we don’t connect to any internet or anything. It’s very safe.”Early voting runs through Aug.

A vehicle slammed into a Miami-Dade County business over the weekend, causing extensive damage. It happened early Sunday morning at Leslie Pet Grooming located near Northwest 52nd Street and 79th Avenue in Doral.
The front side of the business was left with a gaping hole in the front of the building once the car was towed away. Local 10 News spoke to the owner, who said he woke up to a call from police around 6 a.m. saying someone had crashed into his business.
