Driver sought after pregnant woman struck in Woodbridge crash; baby dies

A pregnant woman, who was struck by a hit-and-run driver Thursday night in Woodbridge, Virginia, delivered her child, who died hours later, according to Prince William County Police. A 24-year-old woman, in the third trimester of her pregnancy, and a 28-year-old man were struck by a dark-colored pickup truck while walking in a parking lot Sept. Police are looking to hear from anyone who potentially saw the collision in the 14500 block of Richmond Highway at around 9:45 p.m.

The woman and the man were brought to a hospital; they’re expected to recover. Police said the woman went through an emergency procedure that resulted in the delivery of her baby boy, who died from injuries suspected to be related to the crash. The striking driver is believed to have been in a dark-colored pickup truck; investigators don’t have a description of the vehicle’s make or model.
