Drivers going to Galveston face I-45 lane closures, extended detour starting Aug. 7

The most significant traffic changes will be short-term main lane closures from FM 519 to Tiki Drive and a reroute near Texas City that will be in place for the next two years. They're part of a project to widen I-45 to eight lanes.
