Doubling GDP will require an increase in energy generation

Economist Henri Hebrard has stated that the Dominican Republic must increase its energy generation capacity to support the national goal of doubling its Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Projections indicate that the country will face a 47.6% rise in energy demand between 2025 and 2036 to sustain this economic expansion.

This anticipated growth in energy requirements necessitates proactive planning to ensure the electrical infrastructure can support the country's long-term economic objectives. The required increase in generation capacity is presented as a fundamental prerequisite for achieving the target of doubling the size of the national economy over the next decade.
