EAC members urged to unlock services trade

The East African Business Council (EABC) has warned that the East African Community (EAC) is missing significant opportunities to expand regional trade, employment, and investment. According to the council, persistent regulatory and administrative barriers are delaying the crucial liberalisation of services across member states.

Services currently account for approximately 46 percent of the regional economy. The delay in opening up this sector restricts overall economic integration and prevents member countries from fully capitalising on potential cross-border commercial growth and job creation.
