Eain Yow gives Malaysia 5th gold in Asian Games

(EPA Images pic)PETALING JAYA: Malaysia achieved its six-gold target in the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games when squash queen S Sivasangari won the women's individual final in quick fashion this afternoon.The Kedah-born national champion defended her title when she beat India's Anahat Singh 11-4, 11-4, 11-7 at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena, and qualified for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.Her win followed that of fellow Malaysian Ng Eain Yow earlier in the day when he won Malaysia's fifth gold at the games with a straight-game victory over another Indian opponent, Abhay Singh.Defending champion Eain Yow, who also booked his ticket for the 2028 Olympics, won 11-9, 11-5, 11-5.Malaysia's medal tally after the squash finals is six gold, two silver and eight bronze.Two of the golds came from karate, one from sepak takraw, and one from e-sports. The win by national squash champion Ng Eain Yow brings Malaysia closer to its six-gold target in the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

(Instagram pic)PETALING JAYA: National squash champion Ng Eain Yow gave Malaysia its fifth gold in the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games when he won the singles final this afternoon.Eain Yow, the defending champion, beat India's Abhay Singh 11-9, 11-5, 11-5 at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena, and also booked his ticket for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.Eain Yow is ranked No 18 in the world, and Abhay occupies the 24th spot.Malaysia will achieve its six-gold target in the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games when national women's singles champion S Sivasangari takes on another Indian opponent, Anahat Singh, following the Eain Yow-Abhay match.Sivasangari, ranked No 5 in the world, is in top form and is favourite to win against the 17th ranked Anahat. She will also qualify for the 2028 Olympics if she wins.
