Voters can cast ballots at district commissioner offices before polling day. Early voting will be available for around 30 days, excluding the Commerce Day holiday closure. Month-long voting period On the Capital Area, early voting takes place at the District Commissioner’s office in Kópavogur.
The voting period runs from 27 July until polling day, with a brief closure over the Commerce Day holiday weekend. On the Capital Area, the polling station is located at Hlíðasmári 1 in Kópavogur. It is open from 10:00 to 16:00 during the first week, before extending its opening hours from 4 August.
The office will also be open on weekends later in the voting period, with hours extended to 21:00 during the final week before the referendum. Voters must bring valid identification. The referendum, scheduled for Saturday, 29 August, will ask Icelanders whether the country should resume negotiations on membership of the European Union.
