The Ministry of Public Education (SEP) orders the closure of militarized schools across the country before August 31.

The Secretariat of Public Education has ordered state education authorities across Mexico to ensure that no institutions provide educational services under a militarized designation or model by the start of the 2026-2027 school year on August 31.

As part of this directive, the federal agency has specifically instructed the education authorities in Puebla to initiate administrative procedures to suspend the activities of the Ignacio Zaragoza Militarized Academy in the state capital.

The suspension and upcoming nationwide closure target an educational model that has been characterized in official commentary as anachronistic.
