Education begins school year with a focus on learning and AI

Public schools in the Dominican Republic reopened their doors on Monday following a two-month vacation period, officially launching the 2026-2027 academic year. The Ministry of Education has initiated this new period with a specific focus on student learning and artificial intelligence.

The official start of the school term was marked by an opening bell ceremony led by national authorities. Officials project a total enrollment of 2,686,971 students across the public school system for this academic year.
