Egypt assures Damietta Port operating at ‘full capacity’ following drone attack

The Ministry of Transport announced that Damietta Port is operating at its full operational capacity, following a drone strike that caused a fire at the port. All operational activities at the port are proceeding normally and regularly, with the continuous arrival and departure of various types of vessels, alongside ongoing cargo handling, stevedoring, container operations, dry bulk, liquid bulk, and general cargo operations. In a statement issued on Thursday, the ministry stated that all berths and terminals at the port are operating with full efficiency, supported by the complete availability of maritime and logistical services, including pilotage, towing, and mooring.

This ensures swift vessel turnaround times and minimizes port stay duration, in line with the Ministry of Transport’s plan to enhance the efficiency of Egyptian ports and raise their regional and international competitiveness. The ministry added that Damietta Port continues to offer its services 24/7 through an integrated operational framework powered by the latest technologies. This contributes to meeting the requirements of global shipping lines and port users, ensuring a smooth flow of trade and supply chains without obstacles.

The ministry affirmed that handling operations across all sectors remain consistent, with cargo loading, unloading, storage, and internal transport adhering to the highest safety and efficiency standards to meet performance targets and maintain uninterrupted export and import flows.
