“¡Doctor, un asalto más que es el campeón!”: los inolvidables diálogos en el rincón del Roña Castro en la “pelea del año” que ganó en 1994

On June 18, 2005, former boxing world champion Jorge "Locomotora" or "Roña" Castro suffered a severe automobile accident in the Puerto Madero neighborhood of Buenos Aires, leaving him in a coma for 27 days and hospitalized with multiple traumas at the Argerich Hospital. Despite the life-threatening crash, Castro made a remarkable return to the boxing ring just nine months later. Years after his recovery and subsequent career in television reality shows, the sporting and entertainment worlds expressed widespread shock and grief over his sudden death on a Wednesday morning.

In separate domestic and international news events covered during the same period, mining operations in Chile recorded a fatal accident after a 61-year-old bulldozer operator died following a 50-meter fall into a ravine at the Rajo Aguilucho mine in Taltal, marking the seventh mining fatality in 22 days and the thirteenth of the year. Meanwhile, in sports administration, Spanish Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports Milagros Tolón publicly congratulated the Spanish men's field hockey and parahockey teams for winning silver medals at the recent World Cup.
