Authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) have confirmed that a major Ebola outbreak in the eastern part of the country, which was declared in mid-May, is now nearing the threshold of 3,700 deaths.

Alongside the rising death toll, health officials report that the number of confirmed cases associated with the outbreak has climbed to approximately 7,700.
