El Salvador's VII Population and VI Housing Census, conducted in 2024, has provided the country's first precise official figure regarding its indigenous population. According to the results, 68,148 individuals self-identified as members of an indigenous people.

This total accounts for 1.1 percent of the overall population of El Salvador. The census data reveals both the magnitude and the internal diversity of the country's indigenous communities.
