A new round of dialogue between the Venezuelan government and the opposition has commenced, a process reportedly encouraged by United States diplomatic pressure. The talks are taking place amidst a period of political transition following the reported ousting of Nicolás Maduro, with Delcy Rodríguez currently serving as the president of the government involved in the negotiations.

In conjunction with the start of these talks, social activists in Caracas have formally requested the immediate appointment of a new National Electoral Council (CNE). The activists argue that the current electoral body is under the control of the Chavista movement and that its restructuring is a necessary component of the ongoing political dialogue.
