Congress is considering creating two new provinces

The National Congress of the Dominican Republic is currently analyzing two legislative initiatives that propose the creation of new provinces within the country. The legislative proposals seek to restructure current territorial divisions through distinct administrative changes.

Specifically, one of the initiatives proposes converting the municipality of Las Matas de Farfán into a new province named Santa Lucía. Meanwhile, the second proposal aims to establish a separate administrative entity designated as the Matías Ramón Mella province.
