The Government is investigating the appearance of an Iberian orca in Gibraltar waters with possible pellet marks.

The Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (Miteco) has launched an investigation following the sighting of an Iberian orca, identified as Toñi, in the waters off Gibraltar. The inquiry was prompted by observations of potential injuries on the animal's dorsal fin.

Authorities are examining the marks to determine if they were caused by pellet gunshots. The investigation remains ongoing as officials seek to verify the nature and origin of the damage observed on the marine mammal.
