Unemployment rose by 19,517 people in July while membership exceeded 22.5 million, driven by foreign employment

In July, Spain reached a record high of 22,508,065 employed individuals, marking an increase of 41,727 people compared to June. This growth in social security affiliation was driven largely by foreign employment following a recent extraordinary regularization process implemented by the government.

Simultaneously, the number of registered unemployed individuals rose by 19,517, an increase of 0.85% from the previous month. This brought the total number of unemployed people in Spain to 2,311,499, a development described by the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy as an atypical rise for the month of July.
