In January, then-President-elect José Antonio Kast of Chile arrived by helicopter at the Terrorism Confinement Center (Cecot) in El Salvador. Prior to touring the facility's pavilions, Kast stated that his home country needed to adopt effective strategies from abroad to combat crime.
