Measles cases surpass 2,500 and outbreaks in the US, the highest number in 35 years

The United States has recorded 2,566 cases of measles and 38 distinct outbreaks during the current year as of mid-August 2026. According to data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), these figures represent the highest number of infections reported in the country since 1991.
