The Supreme Court tells Ábalos that it cannot return the devices seized from his home because they are now in the National Court.

The Spanish Supreme Court has informed former Minister of Transport José Luis Ábalos that it cannot rule on his request to return electronic devices seized from his home. The court stated it is unable to make a pronouncement because the confiscated items are currently in the possession of the National Court (Audiencia Nacional).

Ábalos, who was sentenced by the Supreme Court to 24 years in prison, had sought the recovery of the personal and professional devices obtained during searches of his residence. The jurisdictional transfer of the evidence to the National Court prevents the Supreme Court from fulfilling the return request at this time.
