The ECHR again condemns Turkey for the case of opposition leader Osman Kavala, who is serving a life sentence.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has issued a new ruling condemning Turkey regarding the ongoing imprisonment of businessman and philanthropist Osman Kavala. Kavala, a prominent opponent of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is currently serving a life sentence. This decision marks the second time the Strasbourg-based court has ruled against Turkey concerning this case, following an initial judgment in 2019. Despite the previous legal intervention, Kavala has remained incarcerated since his initial detention.
