Email ID in another person’s name not identity theft, Allahabad HC rules

The Allahabad High Court has stayed a First Information Report (FIR) filed against two individuals who were accused of creating an email ID in another person's name.

During the proceedings, the court questioned whether such an action constitutes identity theft under the Information Technology (IT) Act. It noted that the statutory provision specifically addresses electronic signatures and passwords, rather than email IDs.
