Three fires threaten Castellón and force lockdowns and evacuations: extreme risk of fires in the Valencian Community

Three forest fires broke out in the Spanish province of Castellón on Friday evening, affecting the municipalities of Sierra Engarcerán, Culla, and Tírig. Emergency services deployed a significant ground-based firefighting operation that continued throughout the night and into Saturday morning to contain the blazes.

The fires prompted immediate safety measures, including the confinement of residents in Sierra Engarcerán and the evacuation of individuals in affected areas. Authorities have activated a Cecopi (Integrated Operational Coordination Center) to manage the emergency response amidst conditions of extreme fire risk across the Valencian Community.
