Emergency alerts via Greece’s 112 system were sent on Friday afternoon to residents of Fthiotida, central and northern Evia, Skyros, Larissa, Magnesia and the Sporades, warning of locally heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and intense lightning activity expected from the early afternoon hours and lasting for the following 12 hours. The messages urged citizens to exercise particular caution when travelling and to strictly follow instructions issued by the competent authorities.
