French President Emmanuel Macron has arrived in Riyadh for an unannounced solidarity visit to Saudi Arabia. During his trip, he is scheduled to meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Wednesday.
The visit comes in the wake of weeks of intensified attacks on Saudi Arabia by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi movement. With this trip, Macron becomes the first Western leader to visit the kingdom since the latest escalation in Houthi assaults began this month.
