Spain carries out checks on 199 passengers arriving from Italy on the first day of the restoration of borders with the transalpine country

Spain has reinstated border controls with Italy, carrying out checks on 199 travelers during the first day of the measure. According to the Ministry of the Interior, the checks were conducted between 00:01 and 21:00 on Saturday across twelve arriving flights.

The controls specifically targeted nationals of third countries arriving from Italy. Spanish police implemented these random border checks in response to the prevailing migration situation in Italy as border restrictions were re-established.
