Spain installs a sea barrier in Ceuta to stop migrants swimming from Morocco: it will have a visible part and a submerged part.

The Spanish government has begun the installation of a 500-meter containment barrier in the sea at the Ceuta breakwater. The operation commenced on Saturday morning following a night described by officials as normal, with the objective of preventing migrants from swimming from Morocco to the autonomous city. The structure is designed with both visible and submerged components.

This measure follows confirmation from the Ministry of the Interior that migrant arrivals in the area have ceased entirely. The deployment of the barrier is part of an active effort by Spanish authorities to secure the maritime border and manage irregular migration flows between Morocco and Ceuta.
