Visits from Germans and French to Spain fell in August, but international tourism still soared: most came from the United Kingdom

Spain received 12.3 million international air passengers in August, marking a 5.5% increase compared to the same period last year. The majority of these travelers originated from European countries, with the United Kingdom serving as the primary source of international tourism for the nation during the peak summer month. Total international air arrivals for the period between January and August reached 79.3 million passengers.

Despite the overall growth in international tourism, the data indicates a decline in the number of visitors from Germany and France during August. This shift in origin demographics highlights a nuanced performance within the broader upward trend of Spain's international travel sector.
