The legal action follows allegations that she submitted falsified academic credentials from the Fundación Universitaria San Martín to secure a position within the administration of former President Gustavo Petro. Consequently, she has been sentenced to three years in prison for her role in the document falsification scheme.

The case has generated internal friction within the administration and the Pacto Histórico coalition. While Petro publicly defended Guerrero on at least five occasions during his term, other political figures have criticized this support. Former Dapre director Jorge Rojas characterized the former president’s stance as complacent and damaging to the government, while Carlos Carrillo has urged members of the Pacto Histórico to maintain objective judgment regarding the scandal.
