The United States fired on a merchant ship in the Gulf of Oman that was attempting to violate the maritime blockade imposed on Iran.

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed on Tuesday that it fired upon a Panamanian-flagged merchant vessel in the Gulf of Oman. The action was taken to enforce a naval blockade currently imposed on Iranian coastal waters, which the vessel was allegedly attempting to breach while en route to an Iranian port.
