Ethiopian federal forces retake Mekelle airport from Tigrayan fighters, residents say

Ethiopian federal forces have retaken control of the airport in Mekelle, the capital of the northern Tigray region, according to local residents speaking to The Associated Press on Saturday.

The development reverses a previous takeover of the facility by Tigrayan fighters, an event that had earlier resulted in the suspension of commercial flights to the area.
