NewzBelgian cyclist Evenepoel won the gold medal in the European road cycling championship after a photo finish decision against runner-up Ciccone. Evenepoel secured the victory by breaking the race with two attacks, overcoming a crash caused by misjudging a curve during his first attempt.
Spanish riders experienced mixed results in the event. Ivan Romeo finished in fifth place, while Juan Ayuso failed to meet expectations. With this European championship title, Evenepoel completed what is described as a magical circle of winning all major titles.
