This week marks a defining moment for South Africa’s basic education sector. We have eradicated the pit toilet backlog identified through the 2018 Sanitation Appropriate for Education initiative. Today, we can say with confidence that each of the 3,372 schools identified through that audit has been provided with safe and dignified sanitation facilities.
