Extreme heat breaks temperature records in central and eastern Europe

The heatwave has also disrupted critical infrastructure, forcing authorities in Poland to shut down the Kozienice and Połaniec power plants. These closures underscore the significant operational challenges posed by the current meteorological conditions.
