NewzGreek police arrested a 61-year-old foreign national in Athens on Thursday on suspicion of operating a workshop dedicated to producing forged passports and identity documents. The individual is alleged to be a member of a smuggling network that facilitates the movement of migrants across a route spanning Turkey, Iraq, North Macedonia, and the European Union.
The arrest marks a significant intervention in efforts to dismantle human smuggling operations within the region. Authorities are investigating the suspect's role in providing fraudulent documentation to support the illicit transit of individuals into European territory.
