A second lieutenant in the Air Force, who was deployed in Santiago fighting the fires, has died.

Subteniente José Ángel Fernández, a member of the 43rd Group of the Spanish Air and Space Force, has died while deployed in Santiago. The officer was stationed in the region as part of the ongoing campaign to combat forest fires.
