Famed climber Nirmal Purja, nine others, die in avalanche in Pakistan

Famed Nepali climber Nirmal Purja and nine other individuals have died in an avalanche in Pakistan. The fatal incident occurred on Broad Peak as the expedition attempted to scale the mountain, with the team losing contact with its base camp after the avalanche struck.

Purja was a celebrated figure who gained global recognition and achieved fame following a Netflix documentary that chronicled his record-breaking feat of climbing all 14 of the world's peaks above 8,000 metres in the fastest time.

While some sources report the deaths of Purja and nine others, other reports indicate that the search for other members of the expedition is still ongoing alongside the confirmed casualties.
