Fashion Block returns as Saint International set to ignite Kingston with WIFAX showcase

Ocean Boulevard in downtown Kingston is set to receive an image boost as a luxury lifestyle destination when Saint International presents the inaugural West Indies Fashion Art and Architecture Exchange (WIFAX), October 20 - 26. The cultural fusion is being heralded as historic, timely and a powerful value proposition in several quarters. WIFAX stands as a vital cornerstone of the downtown Kingston renaissance project, serving as a dynamic catalyst that reimagines the waterfront into a premier global cultural hub.

By uniting elite minds across creative disciplines, this unprecedented exchange injects vibrant energy and high-end tourism directly into the heart of the capital city. The multi-day influx of international visitors, industry leaders, and tastemakers is expected to generate immense economic momentum, driving substantial revenue for local hotels, restaurants, retail merchants, and ancillary service providers while cementing Kingston's status as a profitable cultural capital. "This creative project has been more than seven years in the making—I started consultations with stakeholders across industries in 2019 and then as I looked to revive Style Week Jamaica post-Covid," Deiwght Peters, Founder and CEO of Saint International, told Observer Online recently.

"Style Week Jamaica could not return as it was previously done. It needed an augmented platform —t he addition of Art (first) and Architecture later created the cohesive cultural juggernaut that is WIFAX." The ROK Hotel, the Jamaica Conference Centre, and other designated art spaces will host exhibitions, curated experiences, press conferences, live shows, themed symposia, master classes, podcasts, and roundtable discussions, among other key activations. The event is expected to attract participants from across the Caribbean and the global lifestyle industry.

WIFAX highlights the changing landscape and aesthetic of the downtown waterfront, giving a 'riviera' vibe to the space.
