Father claims trial to 5 counts of raping teen daughter

(File pic)PETALING JAYA: A 52-year-old labourer was charged in the Setiu sessions court in Terengganu today with five counts of raping his teenage daughter between January 2025 and April this year.The accused claimed trial after the charges were read to him before judge Ahmad Fadhli Mahmud, Utusan Malaysia reported.He was charged with raping the victim at a house in Setiu in January, March and April 2025, when she was 13, as well as January and April this year, after she turned 14.The charge under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code is punishable by eight to 30 years in prison and at least 10 strokes of the cane, if convicted.The court granted bail at RM20,000 and ordered the accused to report to the nearest police station monthly and not to live in the same house as the victim.Case mention was set for Aug 26.Deputy public prosecutors Akmal Jazlee and Nur Atifah Manaf prosecuted.
