FBI no longer treating an applicant's experience with prostitution as automatic bar against hiring

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has ended its policy of treating an applicant's past experience with prostitution as an automatic bar against hiring. Under the updated guidelines, the bureau will no longer impose a categorical ban on individuals who have had sexual encounters with sex workers.

Despite dropping the absolute prohibition, the bureau will still dismiss applicants under specific conditions revealed during the vetting process. Disqualifying factors include engaging with sex workers within the past 10 years, having such encounters three or more times overall, or participating in the activity while holding a position of trust, such as in public safety.
